Attending the launch night of 'Elizabeth Avenue'

Thursday night saw the launch of the very exciting new stories for children based on a group of cats and dogs that live together on Elizabeth Avenue, in North London.

On arrival we were treated to Champagne and canapes at the marvellous Screen on the Green cinema in Islington, which has a bar at the back of the cinema and amazing sofa seats!

Amanda Evans, Series Creator, opened the evening explaining her inspiration and the idea behind the characters and stories, sharing some wonderful photos.

She introduced Rafi Nizam, Character Designer, who brought her characters to life. He took us through the process of looking at actual photos of each type of animal and then how he turns that into a cartoon like image and how to bring the individual personality traits in.

Finally, we heard from King Bee entertainment, who over the past 4 years have taken the characters, stories and illustrations and brought them to life.

This wonderful animation, as well as warming the hearts of all the adults in the room, tackles some serious issues that children might face, but with a fun approach that they will learn. Alfie, for instance, is new to the Avenue and has moved from the country and Trampas, the star of the short clip above, is a bit of a misfit.
